Moldova Mapping & Research

`Civil Society. Dialogue for Progress` is carrying out research activities related to the general framework conditions civil society organisations face in Moldova. During 2013- 2014 research activities focused on country mappings assessing the environment in which CSOs function and operate in Moldova.

Moldova Mapping Study: “Civil Society Organizations from the Republic of Moldova: Development, Sustainability and Participation in Policy Dialogue”

The mapping study evaluates the operating environment of civil society organizations (CSOs) in the Republic of Moldova; identifies key actors; examines the potential to develop, influence and monitor national and regional policies; evaluates the capacity and need to conduct policy dialogue with central and local government. Subsequently, it highlights the most important conclusions, analyses and recommendations for civil society engagement in shaping and monitoring policies in the Republic of Moldova.

Summary Conclusions

The study, carried out by the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) “Viitorul” in cooperation with the Center for Sociological Investigations and Marketing CBS AXA is covering the following sections:

  • CSO Development and Structure in the Republic of Moldova,
  • Fundamental rights and freedoms: Legal framework concerning CSO development,
  • Financial sustainability,
  • Policy dialogue quality,
  • Capacity building of CSOs.

Qualitative and quantitative research tools, i.e. opinion surveys, focus groups, in-depth interviews, semi-structured interviews, analysis of relevant legislation and documents, were carried out throughout the research.
